Field ownership

Fields are either user-owned or system-owned.

User-owned fields are authored by the issuer and define the disclosure's content. System-owned fields are generated by the system and appear verbatim in the issued disclosure.

System-owned fields cannot be edited by the user.

Why ownership matters

Field ownership helps a reader understand which parts of the document express issuer intent and which parts express system-issued metadata or fixed text.

How to read ownership

User-owned fields carry the issuer's declarations and choices. System-owned fields stabilize the format, issuance details, and fixed phrasing needed to keep documents consistent.
